Terry Archer is married to Cynthia Bigge, a woman with history. 25 years ago, she woke up to find her entire family had disappeared. Despite the ups and downs, she managed to find a way through with her Aunt Tess. She met Terry in university, and after marrying, they have a daughter named Grace.
It was revealed that Cynthia's dad, Clayton, leads a double life. The other life was living in New York, with a lady named Enid which he married prior to Patricia, Cynthia's mother. Enid, in layman's terms, is a crazy lunatic, one who does not let anyone get in her way, going as far as murder (that's what happened to Patricia and Cynthia's brother), to get what she want. The two had a son named Jeremy, whom Enid used to run her dirty work and have him go against Clayton himself. In the ending, everyone met at a quarry, which had a huge fall at the edge. Jeremy got Cynthia and Grace tied to the seats of her car, ready to shoot them under Enid's word. Enid was in her car and Terry arrived with Clayton. After an intense exchange of words, Clayton managed to get behind the wheel of Enid's car and steered onto the ledge. Jeremy jumped in front of the car and the three perished into the lake far below.
I didn't particularly enjoy (nor despise) the ending as I felt there should have been more time for Clayton to connect with her daughter before 'departing'. It was also not fair for Clayton to die with the two, as much as it wasn't fair that the only retribution left for Enid is a simple death, after all she'd done to Clayton. It doesn't feel fair. But given the circumstances, it is understood that what happened at the quarry are the best as they could turn out.
In a way, I would have to say it is a good ending, but a slight dissatisfaction still tickles me for the fate of the few. It was a job done, but not enough.
