The Magic Finger : Main Character

The novel I read is The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl. Girl is the main character in this story. She was 8 years old. There was a farm next to hers is owned by Mr and Mrs Gregg. The Greggs have two children named Philip and William. Mr Gregg and his two boys loved to hunt.

Last week, something happened to the Gregg family. Every Saturday morning they went for hunt. Girl just tried to stop them from doing it but they didn’t care about it. Then, one day, she saw they went for hunt again .This made girl so cross and she saw red. Before she realized that ,she put the Magic Finger on them all. The whole Gregg family was been put by magic. The other day, they realized that they became tiny and had a pair of duck’s wings while the four ducks that was been hunt by them before had arms and big as men. The ducks went in to their house and never let them in. Gregg family had no choice but to make a nest to stay and found food to eat.

 When girl tried to call Philip, but at the other end was a funny noise. Meanwhile, Mr ,Mrs Gregg and his two boys trying to get a sleep but a great wind began to blow. They scared that the nest would fall down. At last the morning came ,unfortunately, on the ground below them stood the four ducks and three of them holding guns and all pointing right up at the nest. Mr and Mrs Gregg begged for not killing them but the ducks told Mr Gregg that their six children were killed by Mr Gregg. That time, Mr Gregg regret for his action and promised that he and his boys will not do it anymore. Finally, the ducks forgive them. Then everything was turned back to normal ,they were not tiny and have no wings anymore.

Half an hour later, girl went to Gregg ‘s farm. She saw Mr Gregg smashing his guns with a hammer ,Mrs Gregg was placing flowers upon the graves of the ducks while Philip and William were scattering a sack of barley for the animals to eat. After that, Mr Gregg explained what had happened last night and changed their names into Egg . After awhile , they heard gun shots , it was from the woods and Mr Egg knew that Cooper family were hunting. Girl ran into the woods and put the Magic Finger on the Cooper family.

Girl was a brave person. One Saturday morning, she saw Philip and William coming out of the woods with their father, and they were carrying a lovely young deer. She felt very angry and started to shout at them.

Girl was also a hot-tempered person. One day girl was in class, and Mrs Winter was teaching her spelling but she spelled it wrong. Mrs Winter scolded girl that she was a stupid little girl and commanded her to stand in the corner. She felt angry and put the Magic Finger on Mrs Winter.

In conclusion, girl is a brave person but also a hot-tempered person.
